The photo-dehydro Diels-Alder (P-DDA) reaction of 3-arylynones and arylacetylenes have been extensively studied by Wessig in recent years.[i] The triple bonds of the monomers were rearranged and the aromatic rings were restructured after the photoreaction, thus forming a more stable naphthalene ring.In very recent, we also reported the P-DDA reactions of 1-phenyl-2-(pyridyl)acetylenes in acidic aqueous solution, and the 1,2,3-triaryl substituted naphthalenes were synthesized.
