  Mullite whiskers have been fabricated by heating AlF3 and several kinds of aluminosilicate or the mixture of alumina and silica source materials,but the mechanisms of this process are indecisive.In this paper,a mullite fibres/whiskers frameworks(MF/MW frameworks)were prepared for use as a new thermal protecting material and the mechanism of whiskers formation on fibers were investigated.
