In order to survey the diversity of fungi in Taiwan, the collection, identification and isolation of fungi are the prerequisite.The tropics possesses the richest resource in biodiversity; however, there are inadequate documentation of fungi in this area, particularly for the group of ascomycetes.Taiwan,locating in subtropics, has the diverse plant species and habitats, suggesting that there are numerous species of ascomycetes to be discovered.
