　　Various minerals and materials have been proposed as host phases for immobilization of nuclear wastes.Self-radiation from alpha-decay of the incorporated actinides in nuclear wastes forms can lead to lattice damage resulting in structural change and transformation from crystalline state to an amorphous or aperiodic state, i.e., metamict state (the process is known as metamictization) [1].
