A series of aqueous lithium tetraborate solutions were prepared by isothermal evaporation,density(ρ)and pH were systematically measured.The mole fraction of polyborate was calculated using measured pH and literature equilibrium constants,and polyborate distribution in aqueous lithium tetraborate solution at different temperature were also given.It indicated the dominant species is B4O5(OH)4 2-in aqueous solution.A detailed investigation of aqueous lithium tetraborate solutions has been performed by Raman spectroscopy.The optical geometry and vibrational frequency of the dominant B4O5(OH)4 2- in aqueous phase were calculated at the B3LYP/aug-cc-Pvdz level.The calculated total symmetrical stretching Raman shift of B4O5(OH)4 2- Was assigned to 546.4 cm-1,and the experimental Raman bands were assigned tentatively.
