1 Introduction Myc/Max/Mad network which plays a key role to many cellular functions including proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis As a special member of Mad family in the network of Myc/Max/Mad, Mxd3 (Max dimerization protein 3) can regulate pituitary tumor cell proliferation and differentiation, while pituitary can excrete various hormone to impact the metabolism, growth, development and reproduction.Mxd3 was identified as a target gene of SHH and some researches have found that Mxd3 was associated with preadipocyte proliferation and early adipocyte differentiation.Numerous studies are focus on the function of Mxd3 in the network of Myc/Max/Mad.However, gene polymorphisms of Mxd3 gene are not reported in Chinese domestic cattle,especially concerning on cattle stature performance in China.
