Cuprous oxide (Cu2O) is p-type semiconductor material with a direct bandgap energy of 2.1 eV,which has been regarded as a potential application in solar cells, because of its high absorption coefficient in the visible region. The current research focus has been placed on how to enhance the photon-to-electron conversion efficiency of Cu2O based solar cells. The main issue of the low conversion efficiency is because of the poor Cu2O films,as there is still some difficulty in obtaining high pure Cu2O without traces of CuO and Cu.
