Restriction site-associated DNA sequencing (RAD-Seq) has been useful in population genomics in species with a reference genome but reference-free application of this technique has not been well justified.Here we report the de novo population genomic characterization of bottle gourd, a non-model cucurbit based on low-coverage RAD-Seq data.
