Engineering materials are often failure due to the wear of surface under the combined effect of environment and load.Several surface modification techniques have been widely used to improve the wear resistant using coatings.Coatings can enable innovative material designs and usage.It is often true that to get the greatest benefit from materials like ceramics,metals,and composites,protection of their surfaces is required.Coatings protect these materials from service environments that are oxidizing,corrosive,erosive,or conditions with very high steady-state or transient temperatures/stresses.As commercial arc sprayed coatings have been used to a limited extent in applications involving erosion and abrasion wear,developing attractive wear resistance arc sprayed coatings has been found necessary.
