Introduction: Tumor-specific abnormalities in the microenvironment play a critical role in hampering drug treatment efficacy and contributing to drug resistance. The emerging therapeutic strategy of "tumor vascular normalization" states that antiangiogenic therapies turn abnormal tumor vessel structure and function return to normal temporally: vessels become more mature, blood flow turns to be homogeneous, IFP and hypoxia are reduced, and the delivery of anticancer therapies into tumors is more uniform.
