　　A new Collaboration to prepare the High Energy Density Physics program at FAIR has recently been established.We will report on recent experimental and theoretical activities of this collaboration and we will review the basic concepts of High Energy Density Physics (HEDP) with intense heavy ion beams as a tool to induce extreme states of matter.
