Light matter interaction began with classical physics in Fouriers transient heat conduction equation based on the notions of heat capacity by Lavoisier and Laplace.Theories of Einsteins characteristic vibrations and Debyes normal modes identified phonons as the heat carriers in Fouriers equation.
