  氨含氢量大,是一种极具前景的能源载体。氨的合成需要打破N≡N 三重键,动力学能垒很高。在过渡金属表面进行的催化过程,反应物种的吸附能之间存在线性关系,研究的重点集中于优化金属与NHx 的结合能使之既不太强也不太弱。这种折中方案使得氨合成难以在低温低压下有效进行。
