In HVDC power transmission projects,the AC power is converted into DC power in converter station and vice versa,so the converter valves are the core devices for energy conversion.The outside valve cooling system is designed to cool the inner cooling system in the DC converter station.The outside valve cooling systems spray water is heated and evaporated constantly in the normal operation,leading to the concentration ratio become higher,and the conductivity would increase in continuous mode.When the conductivity reached certain valve,the balance tank drain valve will automatically start a large number of drainage.At the same time,the self-cleaning filter,softening device,sand filter during the running process will backwashing of drainage.The statistics in drainage quantity is 50000 m3,thus it would cause serious waste of water resources and increase the daily operational expenses.Regarding ±660 kV JiaoDong converter station as an example,the statistical analysis of drainage emissions was carried out on outside valve cooling system,according to the outside valve cooling system running water quality requirements,the best scheme was chosen for further study,which could provide feasible technical scheme of drainage recycling for the converter stations outside valve cooling system,at the same time,the goal of energy conservation and emissions reduction could be achieved.
