Approximately 75% of global food crops depend on pollination by insects.An increasing global food demand coupled with the widespread decline of pollinator diversity has produced international concern in both agriculture and conservation.In particular,there are large gaps in economic pollination biology in China.China has a huge human population to feed,and also has one of the oldest histories of plant domestication (in which edible and medicinal uses overlap) and traditional apiculture.Here,we focus on southwestern China,a mega-biodiversity hotspot for economically important medicinal/food plants.
