Highly malignant human gliomas over-express a G protein coupled chemoattractant receptor FPR,which, upon activation, promotes tumor cell migration, growth and the production ofangiogenic factors. Our previous studies showed that necrotic glioblastoma cells release chemotactic agonist(s) that activate FPR on live tumor cells. In this study,we examined the nature ofFPR agonist(s) released by necrotic human glioblastoma cells. We found that necrotic tumor cell supernatant contained annexin1,a chemotatic polypeptide agonist for FPR,as well as a potential agonist for the FPR variant FPRL1.
