The hoop flexible structure has light weight, great flexibility, weak damp and large size. These characteristics cause low natural frequency. The external excitation can significantly affect the low frequency vibration. This paper investigates the active vibration control (AVC) of the hoop flexible structure with extended arm by using piezoelectric stack actuator. At first, the hoop flexible structure model is built by finite element software. The natural frequencies are calculated by usingmodal analysis. Then,PD algorithm,Fuzzy algorithm and least mean square (LMS) adaptive filtering algorithm are applied to derive the vibration control theory.Dynamics equation of the multi degree of freedom system is also established.Based on the piezoelectric stack, the moment actuator is designed.Ultimately, the excitation simulation and the closed-loop control simulation for suppressing the vibration are established. The simulation result illustrates that the amplitude of the vibration is decreased significantly under the external excitation after adopting the moment actuator and intelligent control algorithm.
