Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy is emerging as a simple analytical technique to provide a rapid determination of protein secondary structure, conformational changes and post-translational modifications. In particular,it allows the determination of the secondary structure of proteins in water solution as well as in solid form, with no restriction on their molecular weight.Furthermore,FT-IR appears to be a well-suited technique to study protein aggregation, since a specific FT-IR response characterizes protein-protein interaction in aggregates.
