The recent developments in inert chemical bond activation have emerged as very attractive alternatives to the traditional cross-coupling reactions.[1] With the aid of transition-metal complexes,the unreactive bonds such as C-H,C-O,C-N,C-F and even C-C bonds can be functionalized.Activation of unreactive bond is limited by two fundamental challenges involving the inert nature of these chemical bonds and the requirement of controlling site selectivity in molecules that contain different chemical bonds.
