A measurement system based on binocular stereo vision is developed to judge the distance between two adjacent automobiles in the field of automobile safety.This paper proposes a complete stereo vision method that performs camera calibration,computes dense disparity maps using Normalized Cross Correlation(NCC),and,finally,takes advantage of polar line constraint to short the time of matching.This architecture can realize faster processing speed,higher flexibility and easier extension.
