An evaporative light scattering detector (ELSD) is a relatively new type of universal liquid chromatography detector for all non-volatile material, such as polymers.Because of its high sensitivity and the nature of low baseline drift, this detector has recently become more popular.Unlike other concentration sensitive LC detectors, ELSD is a mass sensitive detector.The sensitivity of this detector depends upon the chemical structure and concentration of analytes.Therefore, one needs to use this detector and interpret the data carefully.
