Using MSS, landsat-5, landdsat-7 satellite image and GIS technology, this paper has extracted the surface water resources distribution and land use information of the four counties and one county level city of Shenyang Municipality of China in three periods, namely year 1979, 2000, and 2005, and has analyzed the impact of human activities and land use change upon the spatial distribution of surface water resources considering the index of landscape ecology.
