Using the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis monthly wind data from 1948 to 2000,accouting the atmospheric mass exchange through the Equator from 30 E to 150 E,the periodic characteristic of interhemispheric atmospheric mass exchange are investigated, and the special distributing of the mass exchange channels are discussed. The results show that there is a clear annual cycle and intraseasonal variation, the mass transportation from the southern hemisphere to the northern hemisphere has a obvious annual cycle while the southward mass transportation across the Equator appears a dominant period of half-year.Also we can find that the interhemispheric atmospheric mass exchange has the characteristic of decade variability,twelve-year-period and quasi thirty-year period are the two most significant periods. In the Asian monsoon region, the interhemispheric atmospheric mass exchange is out of balance, the mass transportation from the southern hemisphere to the northern hemisphere is small than that from north to south. The averaged net flux of the 53 years is from north to south, its up to 11.6% of the all flux.
