One simple and sensitive chemiluminescence (CL) immunoassay system for antigens has been developed. The assay is based on the aggregation of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) that are coated with protein antigens in the presence of their corresponding antibodies. The aggregated GNPs can induce the stronger CL signal of luminol–H2O2. Under the optimized conditions, the CL intensity of the system was linear human IgG concentration in the range from 0.3 to 530 ng/mL. The new technique could be used for fast, high throughput detection of antigens in clinical diagnostic applications.
