The mercury deposit in Guizhou,Danzhai is a typical Carlin-type gold deposit which also contains other heavy metals like Hg and As.During mining,the slags piled up on the ground present serious hazardous potential.This paper focuses on the leaching characteristics of Hg and As of the slag,and the content of Au,and the distribution of Hg and As in the surface water,soil and crop of Danzhai Hg-mined.Understanding the potential environment risks can help estimate the possibility of phytomining through the content of Au.The results showed that,the slag was washed by mixed solution of 0.1M NaH2PO4and 0.1M Na2HPO4(3:2 v/v),the content of As of the leachate is 9929.8 ug?L-1.The slag was washed by solution of 0.1M CH3COONH4,the content of Hg of the leachate is 12.12 ug?L-1.The THg and TAs of the soil in Danzhai are 11.5~79.7 mg?kg-1and 23.7~356.5 mg?kg-1.Both the THg and TAs of the crop exceed the national agricultural products quality and safety standards.The THg and TAs of the river water before the slag heap are 102.4 ng?L-1and 2262.1 ng?L-1,but they increase to 160.3 ng? L-1and 11571.8 ng?L-1 after the heap.So,the slag of Danzhai is a potential source of Hg and As.The content of Au in the slag is 0.54 g?t-1 which makes the phytomining become possible,we can explore using phytomining to recover the gold of the slag.
