Background: to evaluate the efficacy of a new procedure: bone flap grafting with a partial tensor fascia lata as a treatment of femoral head necrosis in children. Methods: from 2011 to 2014,18 hips in 18 patients(age 10.83 ± 3.2 years)diagnosised with femoral head necrosis were treated with the new procedure.5 cases were in stage Catterall II and 13 cases were in stage Catterall III.During the surgery, with the sartorius retained,a bone flap with a partial tensor fascia lata was cut and grafted after decompression of the femoral head; the routine frog gypsum fixation was maintained for three months postoperatively.
