This paper investigated absorption, adsorption and multi-step energy storage using chloride salt.The results show that in novel multi-step single stage solar cooling cycle, the cold storage density can reach the high value of 1.24 kW·h per kg of salt; in the corresponding heating cycle, the heat storage density can be improved to the level of 1252 kW.h per m3 of solution; in the multi-step single stage temperature upgrading cycle, the temperature can be improved from 55 ℃ to 105 ℃ at the 5 ℃ of condensation temperature, while it can be improved from 70 ℃ to 130 ℃ in the multi-step double stage temperature upgrading cycle at a high condensation temperature of 35 ℃.
