Patterned wettability has been used for fusing the advantages of both hydrophobic surface and hydrophilic surface.The patterned wettability surface was usually composed of hydrophilic base and hydrophobic dots.Critical heat flux (CHF) and heat transfer rate can be optimized by varying the area fraction of hydrophobic dot, and the critical heat flux can at least approach that of a bare hydrophilic surface.This optimization strategy using an equidistant square array of hydrophobic dots are applied under uniform or quasi-uniform thermal conditions.
