Study on Breeding Biology of the Oriental White Stork in Jiangsu Dafeng Milu National Nature Reserve

　　Since 2002,there was a small population of Oriental White Stork (Ciconia boyciana) living in Jiangsu Dafeng Milu National Nature Reserve.From 2004,the storks started to breeding,and only succeed in 2010.In order to assess the breeding strategy of them,the breeding behavior and the nest index were investigated from February to June in 2010.The results were: the two nests both were built on the acacia tree.The nest materials were the branches of the tree nearby,and in the nest there were linings.The habitat of the nest was Chinese Pennisetum (Robinia pseudoacacia) and the area of the nest zone was 7.2 ha.Activity budgets for on-nest,egg turning-over,feeding showed extremely significant difference(P<0.01) and flying,mating,fetching material and others showed significant difference(0.010.0) among difference breeding stages.
