Aqueous rechargeable lithium batteries were firstly introduced by Dahn et al [1] in 1994 to replace the flammable organic electrolytes by aqueous electrolytes and are intrinsically very safe and green. However, the main disadvantage is the low energy density, which is usually ascribed to the low electrochemical window of water, 1.229 V, from theory.Consequently, how to increase the energy density of ARLB has been a big challenge.
