Break ares are generated in a DC100V-450V and 10A resistive circuit.Motion of arc spots on the anode and cathode surfaces is observed using a high-speed camera.The supply voltage and contact opening speed are varied.Results are shown as follows.The arc spots locate on side surfaces of the contacts when the gap voltage increased rapidly.Position of the arc spots tends to shift from the tip of the contacts to the root of them with increasing the supply voltage and with decreasing the contact opening speed.
