In this talk,I will talk about several properties of the n-dimensional simplex that related to the mathematical modeling and numerical discretization.The first property of simplex is its relationship between the symmetric matrix spaces,which motivates the mixed finite elements for the stress-displacement formulation of linear elasticity.
