The photophysical properties of a series of newly synthesized Tetrahydro[5]helicene-based imide derivatives1 with a variety of electron-donating substitutes have been investigated in different polarity of solvents by steady-state absorption and emission,femtosecond and nanosecond transient absorption experiments combined with quantum chemical calculations.
