RE-doped Gd1-x-y-zBO3(RE = Ce,Tb,Eu)compounds were synthesized via a hydrothermal method.Their crystal structures,spectral properties and morphologies were examined by X-ray diffraction crystallography(XRD),photoluminescence spectroscopy(PL),and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The excitation spectra show the intensity of emission at 592 nm,belonging to 5D0→7F1 of Eu3+,obviously enhances while the position of excitation changes from 395 nm,f-f transition of Eu3+,then 378 nm,f-f transition of Tb3+,and finally to 361 nm,f-d transition of Ce3+.It indicates that the energy absorbed by Ce3+ can be transferred to Tb3+,and finally to Eu3+.Process of Ce3+→Tb3+→Eu3+ offers significant improvements in light conversion efficiency of Eu3+ than the classical process that simply depends on Tb3+→Eu3+.
