Sulfite exposure was reported to increase minor lipid droplets numbers and accumulation of triglyceride(TG) in the hepatocytes in mice caused by inhibition of secretion of VLDL We did in vitro study to test this hypothesis.Our results suggested that sulfite inhibited carnitine palmitoyltransferase (CPT1) expression and increased TG content in hepatocytes at the same time, it suggested that sulfite may cause lipid accumulation by inhibition of fatty acid β-oxidation.
