　　Kruppel-like factor 3 (KLF3),a member of the Kruppel-like factor (KLF) family,plays an important role in muscle development,adipogenesis and erythropoiesis.By sequencing 420Qinchuan cattle,we identified 2 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (T24075G,A 23841C) in the 3 untranslated regions of the KLF3 gene,which were further investigated for their association with growth and ultrasound traits.The frequencies of genotype GG and AA were higher at the 2 SNPs.The genotypic distributions of the 2 SNPs,based on x2 test,confirmed the two loci accordance with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (P<0.01) The two loci were significantly associated with some of the body measurements and meat quality traits in Qinchuan cattle (P<0.05 or P<0.01),and the H3H3 (CT-CT) combined genotypes had better performance than other combinations in Qinchuan cattle.These results provide evidence that the two polymorphisms in KLF3 are associated with growth traits and meat quality traits,and could be used as candidates for marker assisted selection in Qinchuan cattle breeding program.
