Brake squeal is defined as a sort of friction-induced vibration phenomenon which is occurred by friction between pad and disc contact while braking.Squealing brake often generates annoying noise range from 1kHz to 16kHz and customers perceive it as a serious noise issue as well as a part of safety concern. For decades, therefore, research on brake squeal has been increased substantially and brake system structural modification for reducing squeal noise was widely performed by automotive industry manufacturers.Although entire mechanism of squeal phenomenon is still in research progress, complex eigenvalue analysis (CEA) method is extensively used for predicting brake squeal phenomenon. When analyzing friction coupled brake system by CEA,it extracts complex eigenvalues which are composed of real and imaginary parts.Depending on sign of the real part of the eigenvalues, the amplitude of vibration will decay or grow so that the positive real part is considered as squeal instability of brake system at corresponding frequency (imaginary part).
