This work deals with the study of MWCNTs oxidation by means Thermo-Gravimetry (TG) and discusses the results of their thermal stability as inferred by the temperature peak position (TDTG), obtained from the analysis of the derivative mass loss profiles (DTG), and by the apparent activation energy (EA) calculated by the kinetic approach in quasi-isothermal conditions. Results of both methods, which are related to the MWCNTs defectiveness, are compared to the conventional crystalline indicator (ID/IG and IG/ID intensity ratios) as derived from Micro Raman Spectroscopy (MRS).Commercially available and laboratory prepared MWCNTs exhibiting different crystalline perfection and contents of catalyst impurities were selected for this scope.
