The purpose of this paper is to describe how a blended synchronous learning environment was designed and implemented by following the educational design research approach and its main findings.The blended synchronous learning environment was created to support a technology course of a master's degree program.Instruction was delivered via face-to-face and online mode.Students were allowed to come to the classroom to attend lessons every week while a few selected students attended the lesson using video conferencing from their homes or working places.This study investigated how the design and implementation of such a blended synchronous learning environment would work and could be improved,and what experiences and perceptions the instructor and students had in the process.
