Aim: Ursolic acid (UA), a pentracyclic triterpene, is reported to have an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.To investigate the influence of UA on the development of diabetic cardiac dysfunction, we assessed effects of UA on oxidative stress and inflammation in diabetic rat heart.Methods: Diabetes was induced in male Sprague-Dawley rats by an injection of streptozotocin (35 mg/kg, iv).Sustained blood glucose levels (＞16.7 mmol/L) were considered as diabetic and selected for experimentation.
