Cell polarity is the asymmetric organization of a cell and is important for cell functions such as differentiation, movement and secretion.Scribble, one of the polarity complex components, establishes and maintains the basolateral membrane domain and polarity in epithelial cells.Recent work suggests that pancreatic beta cells are consistently orientated with respect to the islet blood vessels, suggesting they may be polarized cells [1].Here, we investigate Scribble expression in wild-type (WT) mouse pancreatic beta cells and study its possible involvement in insulin secretion using heterozygous Scribble knockout mice (Scrib+/-mice) [2].
