A new rapid and visual method for spermine was proposed on the basis of the cross-linking aggregation of calf thymus DNA (ctDNA) mediated gold nanoparticles (AuNPs).In weak alkaline medium, AuNPs deposited on the long chain of the denatured ctDNA, and cross-linking aggregates formed when spermine was present owing to the electrostatic interaction between the positive change of spermine and negative change both of AuNPs and ctDNA, as well as the groove binding between ctDNA and spermine.
