Purposes:Penetrating head injuries especially in posterior fossa occur rarely in children. We report a 12-year-old girl who accidentally injured by a pair of hair-cut scissors. The scissors penetrated into her posterior fossa through mastoid and reached sigmoid sulcus. Methods:The patient had not any neurologic deterioration. The two blades of the scissors piereed the right auricular area.Spiral computed tomography (CT) scan and detailed imaging postprocessing were performed.CT scan demonstrated the relationship between the blade tip and right sigmoid sinus was hardly identified as the metal artifact overlap with the images of surrounding structures.
