Theoretical Insights into Intermetallic Cooperations for N-N Bond Cleavage and N-H Bond Formation

  Intramolecular metal-ligand and intermetallic cooperations often show unique performance in the chemical reactions assisted or catalyzed by organometallic complex.During our computational studies on metal complexes, we have become interested in theoretical studies on bi-and multi-nuclear organometallic system.[1] In this talk, I will present two examples of intermetallic cooperation for N-N bond cleavage and N-H bond formation,[2] which is of great interest and importance in nitrogen fixation and functionalization.Figure 1 shows a trinuclear titanium complex assisted N-N bond cleavage is prior to the formation of N-H bond.Ammonia formation by a thiolate-bridged diiron amide complex as a nitrogenase mimic will be also demonstrated.
