This paper will describe the experience of inspecting steam generator tubing by applying a single pass probe that contains alternative sensor configurations utilizing independent examination techniques where analysis is performed by automated analysis software.The dual pass probe contains a traditional bobbin sensor plus an array sensor set,providing alternate techniques and alternate analysis methods in examining the steam generator tubing.This approach provides independence and confirmation on a single pass examination of tubing.The single pass provides benefits in fewer man hours for the examination,lower dose received,and reduced radiation waste compared with the traditional approach where the examination is performed using a primary examination technique for the majority of the inspection scope followed by a second probe insertion to perform a secondary examination technique for special areas of interest or confirmation of the primary technique.In addition to the savings in man hours and accumulated dose,further benefits are realized through the application of dual techniques through the examination scope providing a more comprehensive examination of the steam generator tubing.Automated analysis is used to leverage the results between the two independent techniques to provide more resolved answer and perform analysis at a production rate to keep pace with the acquisition of data.
