Controlling molecularly assembled structures and patterns at surfaces is one of the major challenges in self-assembly field.Surface molecular assemblies are primarily balanced by various weak interactions involving surface molecules and substrate.As a consequence,a slight structural change in the building blocks or an external input of small energy could drastically shift the balance of the interactions and hence the resulting assembled structures.
