Rare-earth(RE)doped silicate luminescent materials have attracted great research interests because of their superior chemical and optical properties. In this report, nanocrystals of CaSiO3 activated with the trivalent rare-earth(Eu3+,Tb3+,Sm3+)ions were synthesized by facile hydrothermal method with further calcinations. The obtained products crystalline phase, size, morphology and luminescence properties was characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM)(Figure 1)and photoluminescence(PL).The results suggested that the amount of citric acid(CA)and pH value of the precursor solution as well as calcined temperature play important roles on the crystal phase and emission intensity of final products. The crystallite size of nanocrystals is in the range of 90-100 nm.Furthermore, the bright green, red, reddish orange emissions near 545nm,612nm,and 603nm have been observed, respectively.(Figure 2)The advantages of this method for the CaSiO3 synthesis lie in the high yield, low temperature and mild reaction conditions, which will allow large-scale production at low cost.
