Introduction Recently, ambient mass spectrometry (AMS) is attracting increasing attentions, where more than 30 ambient sampling/ionization methods have been developed to meet the analytical need with little or no sample preparation.Due to the advantages of rugged construction and no need for solvents, the plasma-based ambient ion sources have been studied intensively.Unfortunately, many efforts are still needed to enhance their relatively low signal intensity. In this study, we apply a new integrated source of plasma-based ambient sampling/ionization/transmission (PASIT) for mass spectrometry in pin-to-funnel configuration to the direct analysis of complex samples.
