Cancer is a complex disease resulting from perturbations in multiple regulatory intracellular systems leading to an overall increase in cell number and thus tumor formation. As cancer is a multifactorial process involving the expression of a large number of proteins,a single molecule which could simultaneously modulate more than one pathway or target involved in cancer would have a significant advantage over the current strategies for combination therapy.NF-κB and AP-1 are two important transcription factors for many cell types and are thought to be promising targets for the development of anti-cancer therapeutics. It has been well documented that NF-κB and AP-1 pathways play an important role in promoting metastases, tumor progression, angiogenesis and chemoresistance.A variety of genes involved in cancer are regulated by the combined action of NF-κB and AP-1.Therefore,the modulation of these transcriptional factors may provide us with efficient tool for the treatment of cancer.
