This presentation gives an introduction to the recent advances and typical applications of twodimensional X-ray diffraction.Two-dimensional XRD is suitable for characterization of materials of all kinds,such as metals,polymers,ceramics,semiconductors,thin films,biomaterials and composites [1-2].The two most important advances in 2D XRD hardware are X-ray sources and area detectors.The microsource,fast rotating anode and liquid metal jet X-ray source have increased the brightness of the X-ray beam dramatically.The new development in X-ray area detector technology achieved large detection area with high resolution,high dynamic range and low noise.
